IUI-Turner-Wright Scholarship in Africana Studies (Liberal Arts)

This scholarship was created by Marie Turner-Wright to honor the important people in her life and to share her appreciation of African American contributions to society. The Turner-Wright Scholarship in Africana Studies encourages students to study the full spectrum of Africa and the African Diaspora.

This scholarship supports undergraduate students who are enrolled full-time and are majoring or minoring in the Africana Studies Program. Recipients must be of sophomore, junior, or senior status with at least one semester of coursework remaining after the scholarship is awarded. In addition, recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Preference will be given to students of African American decent. The scholarship may be received in consecutive years by the same recipient, as long as they continue to meet the outlined criteria.
