Applicants must be working on research that contributes to the enrichment of well-being and occupational performance for individuals living in small rural communities. OT candidates who are eligible must meet the following criteria through their proposed/active research:
(1) Tackle a well-defined concern in rural America (e.g. most dangers occupation, 30% of farmers have arthritis, high stress & suicide rates, drug abuse, limited access to healthcare, difficulty with aging in place)
(2) Address a specific barrier to occupational performance for members of rural communities (e.g. deficits in categories of ADL, IADL, Rest & Sleep, Education, Work, Play, Performance Skills, Performance Patterns, Context & Environments)
(3) Collaborate with established agencies with similar missions (e.g. Indiana University Center for Rural Engagement, Purdue Extension, AgrAbility, Arthritis Foundation)- A statement describing how your research addresses the above criteria.
