IUB-Francis & Mildred (Eckerty) Whitacre Scholarship

This award was established in 1999 from a bequest by Francis and Mildred (Eckerty) Whitacre. Dr. Francis Whitacre received his BA in 1927, MA in 1928 and PhD in 1935 in Chemistry at Indiana University. During his career he spent a number of years at Case Institute in Cleveland, Schieffelin & Co. (drugs and pharmaceuticals) in New York and Mathieson Chemical Corp. In the 1960s, he worked on the NASA Apollo Program. After retirement in 1969, he served as a consultant in numerous capacities. Preference will be given to a chemistry or biochemistry student.
