IUB-Berenice Eastwood Covalt Memorial Fellowship

In selecting the scholarship recipients, the Dean, College of Arts and Sciences may consider whatever criteria he or she deems appropriate. The scholarship shall be awarded to a senior undergraduate student or a graduate student enrolled at the Bloomington Campus of Indiana University in the College of Arts and Sciences. A preference shall be given to students majoring in a field of science. Potential recipients are to be judged on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, participation in extracurricular activities, and quality of citizenship.Each recipient shall receive, in addition to the monetary stipend, the following statement:"This scholarship is intended to honor the memory of Bernice Eastwood Covalt, A.B. 1923 in Home Economics. Miss Covalt obtained her degree as a result of her own ambition and hard work. She received no financial support from home nor did she receive a scholarship. She worked at every job available in order to finance her education.
