IUIN-Andy Jacobs, Jr. Memorial Scholarship (Liberal Arts)

This scholarship celebrates the life and memory of a remarkable public servant, citizen, veteran, teacher, friend, husband, and father. He was a Democrat who served the central Indiana district in the U.S. House of Representatives for 30 years and who later brought his commitment to democracy to the classroom as an adjunct faculty member in political science in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IU Indianapolis. This scholarship was created to recognize the potential of all students to make important contributions to our community and nation.

The Andy Jacobs, Jr. Memorial Scholarship provides an annual scholarship for an undergraduate student enrolled in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUI. The recipient may be a full-time or part-time student, must be in good academic standing (although recipient selection should not be based on academic achievement or performance), but demonstrated financial need and a demonstrated thirst for justice and a passion for addressing social concerns in an innovative and compassionate manner. Note: The statement will be made in the format of a podcast in which the student communicates his or her ideas and motivation(s) and how he/she relates this passion to his/her educational pursuits.
