IUI-Matthew Crenshaw Africana Studies Scholarship (Liberal Arts)

Matthew Crenshaw, an IUI Jaguars alumnus, an IUI Hall of Famer and longtime assistant coach, became the 10th head coach in the IUPUI men’s basketball program’s history, in April 2021. He brings 15 years of collegiate coaching experience to the Jaguars program. He was instrumental in a pair of firsts: leading the Jaguars to their first College Basketball Invitational, as part of a 25-win season in which IUI fell one win shy of tying the program’s single-season record for victories. After graduating from IUI in 2004, Coach Crenshaw spent two years playing professionally in the ABA in the United States and in Slovakia and Poland overseas. Coach Crenshaw prides himself on his outstanding record as it relates to student performance. Since January 2010, he has been the academic liaison for the program boasting an over 90% graduation rate for four-year student athletes attending IUI.
