IUI-Marianne Hedges Poetry Prize (Liberal Arts)

The Marianne Hedges Poetry Prize is given in memory of Marianne Hedges, a former IUI student and a fine poet. This prize honors the life of Marianne Hedges, a woman of extraordinary devotion and talent whose creativity and spirit was an inspiration to those who knew her. The prize is for an outstanding poem submitted by an undergraduate or graduate student.

The Marianne Hedges Poetry Prize supports students enrolled at IUI in a creative writing class in the last 12 months with a preference given to women. Students may submit up to three (3) poems. Students may revise and edit their work before submitting it. Please do not put your name on any submitted manuscript.

Recipients of the prize will be determined in a blind reading competition by an external judge chosen by English Department faculty in the IU School of Liberal Arts on IUI’s campus.
