Malcolm Moran has directed the Sports Capital Journalism Program in the Department of Journalism and PR in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI for more than a decade after a career as an award-winning reporter and columnist at The New York Times, USA Today, and other publications. Professor Moran joined the IUPUI faculty in January 2013. Professor Malcolm’s service includes being an Indianapolis Press Club board member, a National Football Foundation Awards Committee member, and a Sports Journalism Institute lecturer.

Professor Malcolm Moran “thinks the world” of Jim Morris and the impact Jim has made in so many places and in so many ways. Because of their close connection and many shared interests, Jim Morris began raising funds to create the Malcolm Moran Study Abroad Scholarship for students who participate in the Sports Capital Journalism Program at IUPUI.
With this study abroad scholarship, selected student recipients will be able to take advantage of international opportunities for them to report on international sporting events, such as the Olympics, Pan Am Games, FIBA, etc., alongside professional media reporters. Professor Moran is able to open doors to students to participate in these top-level, international and national sporting events that they would not likely get into otherwise.
