IUB-J. Steven Lung Fellowship

The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Indiana University – Bloomington (IUB CCJ) invites applications for funding, through the J. Steven Lung Memorial Professional Development Fund. Mr. Lung generously expressed a desire to support graduate students in our department through fellowships, broadly conceived. Eligible expenses include professional development, research support, conference travel, or stipend payment.

Eligible recipients must be enrolled in the IUB CCJ doctoral program in the academic year the funding will be received. Students must be in their first through fifth years, in good standing, and be supported by an SAA or Fellowship during the academic year.

Award amounts will vary based on the number of eligible students. Funds may be used for conference travel, data collection, workshops, seminars, or general professional development that help you advance toward the completion of your PhD, up to $3,000.

Requests should be submitted via IU Scholarships (i.e., BAM) by October 15th at 5 pm. The Awards Committee is comprised of members of the Committee on Graduate Studies. They may opt to provide only partial support for submitted proposals based on budgetary consideration and/or their assessment of the merits of a given proposal.

Applicants will be notified in mid-November with distributions occurring prior to the end of January. Students should be aware that funds distributed by BAM may affect student financial aid packages.

Students must submit a statement of purpose and proposed budget with their application. Students requesting funds to attend a conference must practice their presentation within the department prior to the conference.
