IUIN-The Portfolio Scholarship in the Literary Arts (Liberal Arts)
Overview:
The Portfolio is a fine arts, Indiana-based social organization which was established in 1890 and counts many of central Indiana’s illustrious citizen artists, writers, performers, and patrons among its ranks. The Portfolio created a scholarship program in 2007 for the purpose of supporting the arts and higher education. The Portfolio Scholarship in the Literary Arts supports an undergraduate student who is majoring in English in the School of Liberal Arts that is deemed by the faculty to be excellent in literary arts such as poetry, fiction, and/or nonfiction writing. The recipient will be a resident of the State of Indiana and have demonstrated financial need. The donor prefers that the recipient be between the ages of 18 and 25. A representative of The Portfolio will attend the appropriate School or Department function to present the scholarship to the recipient. The recipient is expected to attend a meeting of The Portfolio during which the scholarship will be announced and the recipient will speak of his/her accomplishments in the literary arts. The amount and recipient of the Scholarship will be determined by the creative writing faculty of the Department or an external judge of their choosing.
