IUB-Dr. Andrew C. Thieneman Summer Fellowship
To help fund graduate student research and writing during the summer. Graduate students who will have completed at least four semesters or more of coursework in our department by the time of the fellowship. Those who have yet to defend their dissertation proposal must use the fellowship to conduct summer research in preparation for their proposal. Graduate students who have successfully defended their dissertation proposal must use the fellowship to conduct either dissertation research or writing.

- Provide a 500-word project description explaining how it relates to your dissertation or dissertation proposal. If you have not yet defended the proposal, specify the expected semester during which you plan to defend.
- Please upload a PDF copy of your CV or resume.
- For proposed travel: (a) a proposed itinerary that includes approximate travel dates and sites in which you will carry out research; (b) copies of any emails from archives, libraries, and/or interviewees that indicate you will be able to carry out research. For writing support or for research that does not require travel: a proposed workplan for the summer.
- A letter of support from a faculty member familiar with your project.
