IUB-J. Steven Lung Fellowship

The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Indiana University – Bloomington (IUB CCJ) invites applications for funding, through the J. Steven Lung Memorial Fund. Mr. Lung generously expressed a desire to support graduate students in our department through fellowships, broadly conceived.

Eligible expenses include professional development, research support, conference travel, or stipend payment. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in the IUB CCJ doctoral program when the funding will be received (i.e., Fall 2025). For this year, eligible applicants may be in any year in the program. We anticipate awarding up to $20,000 this academic year (25/26). Typical awards will be $500- $1,000, per student, per academic year. The Awards Committee is comprised of members of the Committee on Graduate Studies. They may opt to provide only partial support for submitted proposals based on budgetary consideration and/or its assessment of the merits of a given proposal. Requests should be submitted via IU Scholarships (i.e., BAM) by October 31, 2025 at 9 pm. All requests will be reviewed by the CGS in early November and applicants will be notified in mid- November. Funds will be distributed via BAM prior to the end of January 2026. (It is our understanding that all funds distributed by BAM are deducted from student financial aid packages.)
