IUB-Maria Carlson Graduate Student Enhancement Travel Award

It is the intent of the Donor, and the Foundation agrees, that income from this gift be used to support travel expenses for graduate students pursuing their masters or Ph.D. in the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures within the College of Arts and Sciences who are attending North American professional conferences or meetings, large or small. Professional conferences or meetings may be defined broadly: national meetings ( AATSEEL, ASEEES, SLS, ATA, etc.), regional meetings (Midwest or Central Slavic, graduate student conferences, etc.), or special workshops (subject-specific workshops or mini-conferences, TORFL or other proficiency certification workshops , etc.), as approved by the Chair of the Department or by a committee called by the Chair. Expenditures will be in accordance with guidelines and procedures established by the College, Indiana University, and the Foundation.

NOTE – Use at department’s discretion for emergency funding

If, in any given year there are funds remaining, these remaining funds may be used to support activities for graduate student enhancement at the discretion of the Chair of the Department. Expenditures may include, but are not limited to, recruitment, program activities, and career programming and workshops.

If the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures ceases to exist, then income will be used for the general support of Indiana University Libraries.
