IUIN-Luis Alberto Ambroggio Award (Liberal Arts)

Overview:

The Luis Alberto Ambroggio Award honors a poet, scholar, and philanthropist, Luis Alberto Ambroggio. Mr. Ambroggio is an internationally known Hispanic-American poet, born in Cordoba, Argentina. He is the author of twenty collections of poetry, essays, and short stories published in Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Spain, and the United States. His poetry has been translated into several languages and has been selected for the Archives of Hispanic Literature of the Library of Congress. Ambroggio has received numerous awards and recognitions such as the Fulbright-Hays Award, Premio Simon Bolfvar, Trilce Medal from Institute Vallejiano, Order of the Discoverers, the Abraham Lincoln Medal and the Excellence Award from the Washington D.C. Region for his literary and philanthropic contributions. The Latino Studies Program will offer multiple Luis Alberto Ambroggio Awards to IU Indianapolis undergraduate students in the Latino Studies Program.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

• Be an undergraduate student in the Latino Studies program in the School of Liberal Arts at IU Indianapolis
• Have a minimum GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
• Preference will be given to underrepresented students.
• Selection will be based on applicant’s academic record, essay on the reasons the Latino Studies Program will positively impact his/ her academic and professional goals, and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member.

Awarding:

This scholarship will be awarded and disbursed in the upcoming academic year.

Renewability:

This scholarship is not renewable.
