IUIN-Frank N. and Patricia L. Owings Scholarship in English (Liberal Arts)
Overview:
Through creating this scholarship, Frank and Patte Owings are celebrating the role of liberal arts education, particular English education, in their lives and in creating a vibrant and humane society. Frank is a writer, musician, scholar, retired businessman, dedicated volunteer, and an English alum of the IU School of Liberal Arts at IU Indianapolis. Patte is a graduate of Butler University, an artist, and a fine art photographer whose work has been featured in venues including the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Eligibility:
Applicants must:
- Be an undergraduate student majoring in English in the School of Liberal Arts at IU Indianapolis
- Submit a 350-500 word response to the following prompt:
“How will your study of liberal arts in general, and English in particular, equip you to lead a meaningful life and contribute to the creation of a vibrant, humane society?”
- Preference will be given to juniors who are Indiana residents in good academic standing.
Awarding:
This scholarship will be awarded and disbursed in the upcoming academic year.
Renewability:
This scholarship is not renewable.
