IUIN-Kissel School Of Liberal Arts Learning Community Scholarship

Overview:

This scholarship supports first-year students in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IU Indianapolis through recognizing their successful completion of a Liberal Arts First-Year Seminar. Themed Learning Communities (TLCs) are circular practices designed to support entering students and have been shown to improve student engagement and retention. The scholarship was created by our respected and esteemed colleague and faculty member, Francia Kissel, and her husband, Robert Kissel, who are committed to helping liberal arts students succeed at IU Indianapolis

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • Be an undergraduate student pursuing a major in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IU Indianapolis
    Be in their second semester as a full-time student
  • Have at least a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Have successfully completed a Liberal Arts First-Year Seminar
  • Each application must include an essay that describes how their Themed Learning Community (TLC) or First-Year Seminar at IU Indianapolis helped to support them as entering students at IUI and how the first semester with the support of TLCs benefited their overall educational experience. (maximum 500 words)

Awarding:

This scholarship will be awarded and disbursed in the upcoming academic year.

Renewability:

This scholarship is not renewable.
