IUB-Rachel Di Pietro-James Scholarship

It is the intent of the Donors, and the Foundation agrees, that income from these gifts be used to support a scholarship that is to be awarded to an undergraduate student who intends to participate in the Council on International Educational Exchange’s Study Abroad in Argentina program. The amount and recipient of the annual scholarship will be determined by a selection committee in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.

Background: Rachel Marie DiPietro-James was a sophomore at Indiana University majoring in Spanish with a strong interest in Argentina. She was also enthusiastic about theater, culinary arts, building friendships, and working with children as a camp counselor. She spent a year in Buenos Aires with her family while in high school and was planning to return to spend her junior year of college there through the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE). She died tragically in a car accident in February 2008.
