IUB-Roderick D. & Helen Kinnear Mackenzie Scholarship (Nursing)

This Scholarship was created by Sheona Mackenzie and Neil Theobald in tribute to Sheona’s parents, Roderick and Helen Kinnear Mackenzie. Roderick wanted to study politics and music but was offered a scholarship for the ministry only, so did not attend college. Helen was a gifted student and wanted to study medicine, but was only able to afford nursing school. Roderick and Helen valued education and firmly believed that access to education should be made available to all and not just the privileged. They immigrated from Scotland to the United States so their children could study any field they chose.

Eligibility criteria:

• IU Bloomington campus only
• Incoming Undergraduate Nursing Student (Applicant to BSN program for fall semester)
• First generation college student (Scholarship is renewable for a total of six semesters)
