IUI-Anne Donchin Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Graduate Research Contest (Liberal Arts)

In honor of Professor Emerita’s life-long dedication to supporting women, the Anne Donchin Women’s Studies Graduate Research Contest honors Professor Emerita Anne Donchin and her tireless work to promote the success of women, shed light on their accomplishments, and to support women’s equality.

Open to any graduate student enrolled during the past year. A student who has graduated may submit work, providing the paper was completed while a student at IUI.

Submissions must address Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Additionally, they must have been written for an IUI graduate level class from January 2020 to present. The committee will evaluate feminist scholarship, coherence, creativity, organization, originality, and overall writing quality. Judges will also apply standard research criteria to evaluate each project.

Students may submit up to two (2) papers. Papers should be 10 to 25 pages, including a Works Cited page in any recognized standard format. Submissions should be typed and double-spaced.

The author’s name should NOT appear in the submitted essay but should be included in a separate cover-sheet. The following information should be provided in the cover sheet: Student’s name, address-, email, and telephone number; Course number and name for which the essay was originally written, department, instructor name, and semester taken, and the title of the work submitted.
